About aftercare
THINGS TO AVOID WHILE TATTOO IS HEALING
Sun exposure
Swimming, baths, saunas, pools, and open water
Scented skincare or topical products
Strenuous exercise & gym workouts (avoid heavy stretching, friction, and gym bacteria)
Applying cosmetic products over the tattoo before it is fully healed
Shaving over the tattoo before it is fully healed
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Do not pick, scratch, or peel at the scabs or flaking skin. Let them fall off naturally to prevent ink loss.
Always ensure your hands and the tattoo area are clean and dry before applying lotion/ointment. Continue applying fragrance-free lotion daily to keep your tattoo vibrant.
Do not apply sunscreen until all scabs have completely flaked off; use clothing to shield it from the sun in the meantime. Once fully healed, always wear sunscreen, as UV rays break down the ink pigment and cause severe fading over time.
Healing time varies depending on tattoo style, size, placement, skin sensitivity, etc. The surface of the skin is usually healed and free of scabbing within 2-3 weeks, though the tattoo may still appear shiny at this stage.
The deeper layers of the skin typically take around 2-3 months to fully heal. If your tattoo requires a touch-up, please wait until the skin is completely healed before contacting me at tianroderick@gmail.com
